McDonald's Canada introduces contactless payment

McDonald's Canada has begun accepting contactless debit payments at participating restaurants throughout the country, with a wider rollout expected next year.

According to FineExtra.com, the chain signed an agreement with Interac Association to deploy the Interac Flash, an enhancement of Interac Debit contactless technology.

An Interac Flash pilot at five McDonald's restaurants in Toronto is now complete. Full deployment at point-of-sale within restaurants and at drive-thrus at more than 1,400 locations in the country is expected to be completed by March 2013.

The deployment will be managed by Moneris Solutions, a payment card processor.
