McDonald's parking lot swallows customer's car

July 8, 2016

Florida is, as many already know, plagued by sinkholes. Now, at least one McDonald's franchise there, along with a grandmother and the toddler in her charge can readily attest to that fact. The two were partially swallowed by one of the openings that popped up in the parking lot of a Broward County McDonald's restaurant. Fortunately, the two SUV passengers were not hurt, but according to a Miami Herald article, the two were temporarily engulfed inside the sinkhole when the pavement opened. That breach in the parking lot occurred due to a water main break nearby, according to authorities. The Cooper City McDonald's was closed most of Thursday as a result.
