McDonald's has named the winners of its Perfect Pair Contest, which began in May.
Jamilah Lemieux and David Giles of Brooklyn, N.Y. were voted by fans to receive the grand prize for the contest, which asked consumers to share via Twitter why they are as perfect a pair as the strawberry and tart lemon in the new McCafe Frozen Strawberry Lemonade.
Lemieux and Giles will split the prize of $5,000 cash and a $5,000 vacation voucher for a trip of their choice.
"Friends always say that David and I are perfect together and it's amazing that McDonald's gave us the chance to show the world that we really are the perfect pair," said Lemieux. "We think our entry showed just how much fun we have together and we couldn't be happier to have won!"
The tweet that started their run toward the prize was: "@davethepaxtons and I are the "perfect pair" because he is the sweet(heart) to balance out my tart!"
The duo's video also portrayed their similar interests, including their love of writing, their use of the same hair product, and their knack for finishing each other's sentences and sandwiches.
An expert judging panel reviewed the more than 600 submissions to determine 10 finalist pairs, who then created 30- or 60-second videos further describing what makes them McDonald's Perfect Pair. Fans then voted online to determine the winning pair.
Katherine Moore and Marshall Taylor of Arlington, Va., and Jason Gottshall and Anya Cottage of Canton and Stow, Ohio, respectively, were voted as runners-up. Both pairs will each split $1,000 in McDonald's Arch Cards.
