In honor of National Dental Hygiene Month, McDonald's Restaurants in Philadelphia are holding toothbrush collection drives throughout October. As part of the collection drive, customers who donate packaged toothbrushes will receive a coupon for a free McDonald's Milk Jug, one per customer, per visit.
All toothbrushes collected will benefit the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and McDonald's will kick-off the collection with $100 worth of toothbrushes. Supported by Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region Inc., and operated by St. Christopher's Foundation for Children, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a two-chair clinic on wheels that provides diagnostic, preventative and restorative dental care to qualified new patients ages 1 to 8 at no cost to their families.
In June, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile served its 10,000th patient. Since 2005, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile has treated more than 10,000 children in Philadelphia with services valued at more than $2 million based on the fees charged by the St. Christopher's Hospital for Children Dental Clinic.
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program in Philadelphia was launched in 2001 and provided medical screenings to children. After significant research, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile narrowed its focus to pediatric dentistry in response to the growing need for children's dental care in the city of Philadelphia.
