The National Restaurant Association has announced that this year’sFood Safety Monththeme will be "Let it Flow," focusing on the flow of food throughout a restaurant. NFSM, held annually in September, was created in 1994, by the NRA to heighten awareness about the importance of food safety education, according to a press release.
"With our industry serving 130 million meals daily, food safety is always a top priority for the country’s one million restaurant and foodservice establishments," NRA Chief Innovation & Member Advancement Officer Phil Kafarakis said in the release. "Every September, we look forward to highlighting the industry’s commitment to food safety education. This year, we are excited to share a variety of new resources with vital food safety tips and best practices."
For the fifth consecutive year, NFSM is sponsored by SCA, maker of the Tork brand of Away-from-Home professional hygiene products in North America.
"SCA is proud to sponsor National Food Safety Month," said Suzanne Cohen, foodservice marketing director with SCA’s North American Away From Home Professional Hygiene Business. "The month helps to recognize the commitment to food safety in all areas of foodservice operations."
