Seems a bit counter-intuitive as we enter the season of copious amounts of kisses and hugs, but at least two brands are making garlic the darlin' of the garland this holiday season. QSR Subway has brought back its ultimate cheesy garlic bread, while Pizza Hut has returned stuffed garlic knots pizza to its diners plates for the first time in three years, according to a pair of press releases.
At Subway, the pungent loaves follow two other previous bread-centered LTOs this year, including King's Hawaiian bread and later the brand's ciabatta collection. The garlic bread LTO is featured on three of the brand's sandwiches, including ultimate meatball marinara and spicy Italian, as well as a new ultimate steak sandwich, all available on the garlic infused bread until Dec. 31.
"When we launched the Ultimate Cheesy Garlic Bread last year, our guests responded immediately, and we knew we had a hit on our hands," Subway Chief Brand and Innovation Officer Len Van Popering, said in the release.
Meanwhile, the garlic at Pizza Hut comes all tied up in knots. Specifically, the brand has used 16 garlic knots stuffed with cheese to create the crust on its stuffed garlic knots pie, which it calls a "pizza-tizer," because it features an appetizer baked into a pizza.
Marianne Radley, chief brand officer, Pizza Hut. "As we close out the year, we're bringing back a classic before the holidays with the return of the stuffed garlic knots pizza and all that gooey cheesiness we know our customers love," Pizza Hut Chief Brand Officer Marianne Radley said in the release.
