Popeyes recognized for diversity efforts

September 15, 2010

AFC Enterprises, Inc., the parent company of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, has been listed on Black Enterprise Magazine's "40 Best Franchises for African Americans."

The recognition is based on the company's programs, affordability, revenue potential and marketing/advertising support.

AFC has recently added components to its inclusion strategy, called "Roadmap of Opportunity," and has hired Renay Winston as vice president of human resources to provide leadership for the program.

The company has also tapped two diversity consulting firms, Roosevelt Thomas Consulting & Training and Basic Diversity, Inc., to support Winston and the program.

"Our commitment to diversity and inclusion has never wavered," said Cheryl A. Bachelder, president and CEO of AFC. "Both are critical to our growth and success and are key competitive advantages. We are now broadening our initiatives to encompass all of our key stakeholders: employees, franchisees, suppliers and the communities we serve.

Other quick-service chains have also been recognized by the magazine for their diversity support, including Burger King and Yum! Brands.
