QSR giants accused of violating Chilean law banning kids' meal toys

August 2, 2012

McDonald's, Burger King and KFC are among the quick-service chains accused of violating Chilean law banning kids' meal toys.

According to the Associated Press, the ban was put into place in early June. Senator Giuido Gerardi filed a formal complaint this week and called for an investigation into the QSRs' continued use of toys, which he says are "endangering the health of children."

If the companies are found to be in violation, they will be forced to remove the products or face fines.

Gerardi introduced the "junk food law" following similar controversy in San Francisco and New York City.
