Subway, heart association want to 'color up' American meals

September 21, 2016

The Big Apple is set to get even more colorful than usual as the American Heart Association is partnering with Subway to launch a collaborative '+color' initiative.

The joint campaign features a special food truck on a mission to get Americans to eat an extra cup of heart health-enhancing fruits and vegetables daily.

On Sept. 22, at 1 p.m., the +color truck will roll into New York City's Union Square, stocked full of free fruit- and vegetable-based kebabs, salads and sandwiches, illustrating the multi-colored fruits of the earth. The offerings will be distributed as the kick-off to a national campaign to promote healthful eating centered on a heart healthy plant-based diet.

The next day, the partners will launch a related digital event nationwide on the AHA's YouTube Channel, which will feature a special launch video fans can share via social media to access more information and recipes.
