Subway launching test June 27 making it 1st restaurant to bake King's Hawaiian bread in stores

June 4, 2019

Subway will soon start baking King's Hawaiian bread in 300 locations in Champaign, Illinois, Reno, Nevada, and Richmond, Virginia. On June 27, the new 8-inch custom-size King's Hawaiian bread will be baked at each of 300 stores and then offered with a "deluxe" portion of meat and twice the cheese of the QSR's 6-inch subs, according to a company press release.

In order to get the King's Hawaiian bread sandwich, customers in the test markets should order their sandwiches "Aloha Style" or they can try two new sandwiches with the bread, including one with a blend of turkey, bacon and provolone, or a second with ham and Swiss cheese.

"These new sandwiches are unlike anything out there and Subway is offering guests a chance to try this iconic bread like they never have before —freshly baked," said Subway Chief Brand and Innovation Officer Len Van Popering, in the release. "We're excited to be the only restaurant in the world trusted to serve King's Hawaiian(r) bread this way."

Subway will test the offering through Sept. 4.
