In August, Subway restaurants will feature Vitaminwater Zero, owned by The Coca-Cola Co. The product is named for its zero calorie content.
According to BusinessWeek, the rollout is in response to increasing consumer demand for less sugary drinks and more beverage variety.
In 2011, Vitaminwater Zero experienced a 28-percent sales growth.
Subway will only offer Vitaminwater's zero-calorie options, including lemonade and acai-blueberry-pomegranate, in 16.9 ounce bottles. The brand's 20-ounce bottles are only available at retail locations.
Subway has been testing Vitaminwater Zero in 10 markets for the past four years.
