Taco Bell will launch its Cantina Chicken Mexican Pizza on May 21 for a limited time, according to a press release.
The new menu item features slow-roasted chicken, black beans, green chile sauce and a three-cheese blend layered between crispy tortilla shells. It is topped with shredded purple cabbage and pico de gallo. The item will be sold for $6.49.
Taco Bell Rewards members will have early access to the item through the brand's mobile app beginning May 19.
The company is also introducing a Jalapeño Citrus Salsa sauce packet, which features red jalapeños, guajillo chiles and citrus. Every item on the Cantina Chicken menu will include both the new Jalapeño Citrus Salsa and Avocado Verde Salsa packets. Individual packets are also available for purchase for $0.20 each.
"The Mexican Pizza is iconic for a reason. It's that perfect layering of crispy, saucy, cheesy nostalgia that fans have loved for years, so we didn't want to reinvent it, we wanted to build on it," Liz Matthews, Taco Bell's global chief food innovation officer, said in the release. "And because we know our fans are serious about sauce, we made sure the Jalapeño Citrus Salsa brings the extra spark that complements the Cantina menu."
The launch follows the initial reveal of the product at the company's Live Más LIVE event earlier this year. Taco Bell indicated that further variations of the Mexican Pizza are planned for future release.
