Tim Hortons guests can now personalize gift cards

December 17, 2013

Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop customers can now personalize gift cards to send to family or friends. The company launched a new platform to personalize its Tim Card, allowing customers to use their own photo or image to include on the card, which can then be sent as an electronic eGift or as a traditional plastic card.

The new gift card design launched Dec. 12 on shopus.timhortons.com and on the U.S. chain's Facebook page at facebook.com/TimHortonsUS.

"Giving a gift card to someone doesn't have to feel impersonal anymore," said Mike Meilleur, executive vice president, Tim Hortons U.S. "We hope our guests will incorporate their favorite memories with their favorite place to visit."

The customizable Tim Card is available in a set denomination ($10, $15, $25, $50, $100) or a specific value (up to $100). Guests will pay a surcharge of $4.50 for personalization and production.

The Tim Card was previously only available for purchase in Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop restaurants and select retail grocers. The availability to purchase the Tim Card online and through social media channels is new this year.

Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop partnered with Buyatab for the technology behind the personalization photo platform. Buyatab is a service provider that specializes in the online sales of physical and digital gift cards for retailers.
