Tim Hortons, Subway commit to Canadian nutrition program

October 1, 2013

Tim Hortons and Subway Canada have announced their participation in Manitoba's nutrition information program, Informed Dining.

Manitoba is the second Canadian province to adapt the proposed comprehensive national program, spearheaded by the government of British Columbia, the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association and leading restaurant companies.

The program's goal is to provide restaurant guests with easily accessible and wide-ranging nutritional values such as calories, fat and sodium.

"Tim Hortons guests continue to be interested in nutrition and healthier menu options and want to make informed decisions about their choices," said Scott Bonikowsky, VP, Corporate Affairs, Tim Hortons. "Tim Hortons has been committed to providing comprehensive nutritional information beyond calorie counts since 1999 when we introduced our first chain-wide nutrition guide."

"At Subway Canada, we are committed to giving our customers a variety of healthy food options, and the Informed Dining program is another step in providing our customers with all of the nutritional information they need," added Kathleen Bell, director of National Marketing, Subway Restaurants of Canada. "We are proud to partner with the Informed Dining program in Manitoba and are looking forward to seeing the benefits of this initiative roll out."
