What appears to be a poorly judged employee prank at a Milton, Florida, Wendy's has cost an employee his job, and has caused negative publicity, despite the fact that the store involved followed all the correct procedures.
According to WKRG-TV in nearby Mobile, Alabama, the incident involved a worker captured on video as he wore swim trunks to sit in a "bath" in what appears to be the chain's dishwashing sink. In the video, the employee — who was not identified — is shown immersing himself in sudsy water in the large stainless steel sink while off-camera individuals cheer him on and ask him how the water feels.
A Wendy's spokesperson told the TV station that the sink-bathing employee was terminated as a result of the incident that the chain called "totally unacceptable." It's not clear how the video originally became public, but QSRweb is awaiting response from Wendy's with further details.
Milton, Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation assessed the location the day after the incident and found nothing amiss. Inspection reports have a list of requirements, and Wendy's was in compliance with everything allowing the restaurant to stay open.
