White Castle cordially invites world to 'Royal Wedding'

In terms of sheer kitsch, few cities approach the level Las Vegas achieves every day, and White Castle is hoping to capitalize on that notoriety with its Royal Wedding contest. The chain will award one couple a blow-out wedding at its 2-year-old location in Vegas, complete with a honeymoon in Belgium, according to a company press release.

Over the last 10 years, more than 75 couples have married at White Castle restaurants nationally, though the Royal Wedding winners will be the first to say, "I do" at the Vegas location.

"Getting married at a White Castle in Las Vegas is a bold move for those people looking for something new, different, exciting and memorable," White Castle Vice President Jamie Richardson said in a news release. "Get bold with your entry. Don’t just tell us, but show us why the ‘Royal Wedding’ experience has to be yours!"

Clearly this is one promotion designed to reel in both millennials and their Boomer parents, along with all kinds of social media buzz since competing couples are asked to basically run campaigns on social media under a special contest hashtag to tell the world why theirs is the one wedding that really belongs on the center aisle at the Vegas location.

For their efforts and the enthusiastic social media-based applause of friends, family and friends, the chain will award one couple and six of their guests a ceremony and Royal Wedding "experience" at the Vegas restaurant. The "experience" includes roundtrip airfare, transportation, rehearsal dinner, reception, three nights' hotel, gift cards and other pleasantries. The couple also receives that Belgium honeymoon, which the chain said includes a stay at one of this country's true castles.

Two more winning couples will receive the First Prize package of White Castle menu items and non-alcoholic refreshments for up to 200 people at their wedding reception held anywhere in the continental United States.

Couples may enter online at whitecastlewedding.com until July 31. A panel of judges at White Castle will select winners, who will receive notification around Sept. 15.
