With 25 days left to the biggest eat-on-the-couch event of the year — the Super Bowl — White Castle has announced delivery. The chain has paired with an online and mobile food-ordering company, Grubhub, to offer delivery at 75-plus locations nationwide.
Among the cities offering the feature are New York City, Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Detroit, along with 45 more where both the burger brand and Grubhub now operate, according to a company press release.
"As a family-owned business for 97 years, White Castle has been dedicated to making memorable moments for our customers," said White Castle CEO Lisa Ingram, who is a fourth-generation member of the ownership family. "We pioneered take-out for those wanting a favorite meal at home, launched grocery products nationwide ... and today we are thrilled to partner with the wonderful team at Grubhub to bring our hot and tasty food to customers everywhere."
Grubhub COO Stan Chia said the company serves about 10 million customers and partnering with White Castle promises to add to that number.
In an effort to get the word out about the partnership, the companies are holding a Super Bowl-themed contest, which ends with White Castle's food truck — the Crave Mobile — delivering a slider feast to the winner's viewing party during the Super Bowl
The contest prompts entrants to use a code when checking out on the Grubhub app from Jan. 11 to Jan. 15, which makes them eligible for the prize.
