White Castle is expanding its presence in the Sunshine State with plans for a new location in St. Augustine, marking the brand's first entry into Northeast Florida, according to a press release.
The restaurant will follow the company's modern "neighborhood" prototype, featuring a 2,764-square-foot building. The site includes a 270-square-foot outdoor patio and two drive-thru lanes where employees will deliver orders directly to vehicles.
This location will be the fifth free-standing White Castle in Florida, following the brand's return to the state in 2021 with its Orlando flagship and a subsequent opening in Clermont.
"This commitment marks the next exciting step in our Florida growth," Jamie T. Richardson, White Castle CMO, said in the press release. "Our Orlando and Clermont Castles have been embraced with open arms, and we look forward to bringing our beloved sliders to St. Augustine. As one of the fastest-growing areas in Northeast Florida, St. Johns County is a great fit for our fun-loving, customer-centric brand, and we're excited to become part of this vibrant community."
The company expects the new restaurant to create dozens of jobs for local residents.
While a specific opening date for the St. Augustine site has not been announced, it follows previously scheduled expansions in Kissimmee and Daytona Beach.
White Castle operates 334 restaurants as well as a retail division.
