Wienerschnitzel enters West Virginia through GoMart partnership

Wienerschnitzel is expanding its nontraditional footprint through a new franchise agreement with travel plaza and convenience store operator GoMart, the company has announced in a news release. The partnership will bring two co-branded Wienerschnitzel/Tastee Freez restaurants to Kanawha City and Ghent, marking the restaurant chain's entrance into West Virginia.

Both restaurants will be built as end-cap locations featuring drive-thru service. They also are part of a broader development pipeline with GoMart, which has identified additional opportunities for conversions and new construction across its portfolio over the next five years.

"GoMart brings together many of the qualities we look for in a development partner, from strong operating experience and deep knowledge of its markets to an established footprint that creates opportunities for Wienerschnitzel to grow across different formats," David Winter, chief development officer for Wienerschnitzel, said in a press release. "As we continue expanding beyond the traditional restaurant model, partnerships like this allow us to pair the flexibility of our concept with operators that already understand how to serve consumers in high-traffic, convenience-driven environments."

GoMart operates 123 locations across West Virginia, Ohio and Virginia and has experience managing QSR concepts. The partnership supports Wienerschnitzel's strategy of opening restaurants in places where consumers already shop and travel, including convenience stores, travel plazas, retail centers and military bases.

Wienerschnitzel has recently expanded its nontraditional presence into Walmart Supercenters in Arizona, Washington, New Mexico and Colorado. The company also opened its first restaurant on a U.S. military installation at Naval Base San Diego. The chain currently operates 340 franchised restaurants across 13 states, with more than 30 additional units in development nationwide.
