Yum brands equips Brazil's first corporate-owned KFC with NCR technology

The new locations will use NCR hardware, Aloha software, and above-store reporting software for remote monitoring of sales and POS activities in real time.

Yum Brands Inc. has opened its first corporate-owned KFC store in Brazil using NCR restaurant technology solutions, according to a press release from NCR.

To engage consumers in the front of house, Yum will use a mix of digital displays, including NCR digital signage and POS stations featuring a guest-facing screen.

This makes it easier to communicate with guests in the KFC stores, and to market new offers such as meal specials, the release said.

In the back of the house, NCR is helping Yum identify trends and optimize store performance with above-store reporting software. The Web-based reports will help the chain forecast revenues, increase controls and lower operational costs in real time.

“[W]e are excited that Yum Brands has selected NCR to help them achieve their long-term expansion goals in Brazil’s fast food market,” said Paul Langenbahn, president of NCR Hospitality. “NCR’s restaurant technology enables Yum to be more agile, while providing them with the performance and scalability to protect their investment for the future.”

Yum Brands is expanding throughout South America and expects to open three KFC owned stores in Brazil by the end of 2014.

“As we continue to aggressively expand the KFC brand and enter new emerging markets, it becomes increasingly important to strengthen the global partnership with NCR Global Services,” said Agustin Dominguez of Yum Brands.
