Beware the orange dust-cloud: KFC takes Cheetos sandwich nationwide

June 21, 2019

For as long as there have been Cheetos, it's very likely there have been diners putting them into sandwiches to add a little cheese and, of course, orange color, to any meal. KFC recently raked in on Americans' affinity for such mashups when it launched a test earlier this year of its Cheetos sandwich, featuring a permutation of the brand's Extra Crispy chicken filet coated with Cheetos "sauce" on a bun.

Due to the success of that glowing orange sandwich, the brand this week announced that starting July 1 it will make the Cheetos Sandwich available nationwide for a four-week LTO. In fact, to kick things off in a style befitting a noisy orange staple of the American diet, KFC's 14th Street store in Manhattan will host an "All Orange Everything" pop-up event on Thursday, June 27, where consumers can try the sandwich for the first time before nationwide availability from 4 to 8 p.m. Eastern.

The event will also feature items like Cheetos-fied KFC Hot Wings, Cheetos Loaded Fries and KFC Mac and Cheetos Bowl. No word on whether the brand will hand out wipes to remove residual Cheetos dust as diners at the popup leave for other points across the Big Apple.
