Burger King, Popeyes parent promotes COO to top tech job

January 23, 2018

Burger King, Popeyes and Tim Hortons' parent Restaurant Brands International is moving its CFO, Josh Kobza, to a new role as chief technology and development officer, reflecting the industry's fast-growing reliance on mobile ordering and other digital services.

After five years in the top numbers spot for the chain, Kobza, will lead digital functions for all three QSRs, Bloomberg News reported.

Burger King has room for progress in the digital space, particularly since the chain has not yet developed a mobile app. Hortons introduced its app last year and Popeyes — which RBI acquired last February — now has system-wide payment technology in all of its restaurants.
