Comic book legend Stan Lee created Spider-Man 50 years ago and now he's helping spread the word about the Spider-Man Eats Free promotion at Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants. Customers who visit any Carl's Jr. or Hardee's restaurant on July 4 dressed as Spider-Man will be treated to a free Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger, while supplies last.
The special offer is part of the brands' promotion with Columbia Pictures' release, The Amazing Spider-Man, coming to theaters in 3D July 3. Stan Lee also appears in radio ads promoting the offer.
"We know that with great burgers comes great responsibility," said Brad Haley, chief marketing officer for CKE Restaurants, parent company of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's. "So, we are doing our part to celebrate America's birthday, Spider-Man's birthday and the release of The Amazing Spider-Man film by giving anyone dressed as Spider-Man a free Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger on the Fourth of July. And, we were thrilled to have comic book legend Stan Lee help us spread the news in humorous radio ads and on-line videos."
Starting at 11 a.m. July 4, any guest visiting their local Carl's Jr. or Hardee's restaurant in their Spider-Man costume will receive a free single Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger. Guests may come wearing an official store-bought Spider-Man costume or a homemade Spider-Man creation to be eligible.
The promotion is for dine-in customers only, and no purchase is necessary. The company asks that masks not be worn.
Lee appears in a series of video vignettes for the promotion on both brands' websites.
