Three KFC outlets in Fiji – two in Suva and one in Nadi – are temporarily closed as operators await the importation of key ingredients that make up Colonel Sanders' secret recipe.
According to Radio Fiji, the Fiji Quarantine and Inspection Division has forbidden the imports of a milk and egg mix and a breading salt since October 2010.
The company says the missing ingredients have resulted in compromised product quality and decreased sales. KFC first opened in Fiji 10 years ago and has been importing the ingredients since.
The closures affect about 80 employees. KFC said it is working with the division to resolve the import restriction.
