Krispy Kreme plans hardware, software upgrades

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is planning to invest in new computer hardware and software systems this summer, including new POS systems, and handheld devices .

The overhaul will be part of the capital expenditure for the fiscal year ending Jan. 29, 2012, which is expected to be approximately $13 million to $17 million.

Other costs in this budget will go toward remodeling efforts, new store construction and new delivery vehicles. Krispy Kreme began testing delivery in its North Carolina markets in December.
