McDonald's Canada names new digital agency

November 21, 2011

Tribal DDB Canada, the integrated digital and social marketing group of DDB Canada, announced it has been appointed digital agency of record (AOR) for McDonald's Canada.

The agency now provides strategy, creative ideas, design and implementation to support McDonald's through engaging digital experiences and interactions across web, mobile, social platforms and emerging technologies.

"McDonald's is one of the best-known and most well-respected brands in the world," said Andrew McCartney, managing director, Tribal DDB Canada. "Being named McDonald's digital AOR in Canada is a great honor and the beginning of a fruitful partnership. Our vision is for McDonald's to become an innovative leader in the digital space, building their brand and telling their quality food story in an engaging way."

The agency was awarded the business following a competitive pitch process, which began in March. Tribal DDB has already undertaken two major initiatives for McDonald's Canada, including the national rollout of the McCafe brand and the re-imaging of McDonalds.ca.

"Tribal DDB Canada's digital innovation and creative approach made them an ideal partner as we continue to transform our brand," said Joel Yashinsky, senior vice president of marketing of McDonald's Canada. "We've already made a strong connection with the team and are impressed by their vision of how we can better connect with consumers through digital channels."

Tribal DDB Canada will service McDonald's Canada primarily from its Toronto office but will work closely with the agency's Vancouver office as well as its Montreal-based partner, Bleublancrouge, which will provide a French Canadian perspective to the digital strategy.
