AEG's Global Partnership division has announced a partnership with McDonald's to launch the Los Angeles Kings' Player of the Month campaign. The Kings are owned by AEG.
The campaign encourages fans to vote for their favorite Kings' player each month, while rewarding them with exclusive coupons to McDonald's, and the ability to redeem more when voters share their choice across platforms.
The campaign is a first for any NHL team that makes heavy use of social media, mobile and digital platforms allowing the fans to vote for their favorite player for the duration of the current 2013 NHL season, according to a company announcement. Fans can vote via LAKings.com, the Kings' Facebook page or the Kings' mobile app.
"Spreading the voting process through these online platforms provides fans access across multiple touch points and connected devices," said Luc Robitaille, Kings' president, Business Operations. "It gives the fans a voice in something real for the team and also rewards fans who share the program using their social networks with McDonald's monthly prizes."
In addition the Kings will update the voting process and results through its TV and radio broadcasts, digital vehicles and in-arena mentions.
Kings who win the "McDonald's Player of the Month" will be recognized on the ice at the Staples Center.
"McDonald's support was critical to getting this program up and running and we believe this program will deliver equal parts fan enjoyment and partner results," said Bill Pedigo, AEG Global Partnerships senior vice president.
Free coffee in Michigan market
Also, participating McDonald's restaurants in Michigan are offering free coffee from now through March 3. According to the Detroit Free Press, customers can receive one small cup of coffee per visit with no purchase necessary.
The promotion was created to expose customers to McDonald's premium roast coffee.
Additionally, a Detroit-area restaurant promoted breakfast burritos this week, made with onions, peppers, sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese.
