Munchery taps James Beriker for CEO

Munchery appointed James Beriker to be its new CEO, according to a press release.

"We are excited to have James on board to lead our new phase of growth," said Munchery board member, co-founder and Sherpa Capital Managing Director Shervin Pishevar. "James brings a deep understanding of building brands and improving new business lines and product offerings. We have a strong market opportunity to lead this category and I look forward to working with James and his team as we grow the business."

Munchery's co-founder and former CEO Tri Tran, will remain on the brand's board and become its chief strategy officer.

"James' outstanding track record and passion for the customer is a perfect match for Munchery," Tran said in the release. "It has been a privilege to lead the company for the past five years, and I look forward to working with James as we continue pursuing our mission to make delicious, healthy, high-quality and cost-effective meals accessible to everyone, everywhere."

Beriker was a senior executive at Yahoo! and CEO at Efficient Frontier (acquired by Adobe), according to the release.

"Munchery has become a leading brand in the multibillion-dollar food market, with a proven model and significant room for growth as consumers look for healthier, more consistent options to fast food and restaurant delivery," Beriker said. "Their unique end-to-end model, integrating the complex chain of customer acquisition, food production and delivery, and bolstered by having direct relationships with customers, will provide ongoing opportunities to learn and refine the value proposition and drive margin expansion as we grow the business. Tri, Conrad, and team have built a robust platform — and I'm honored to lead the company through this next growth phase."
