Sonic launches $2.50 menu for America's 250th birthday

Sonic Drive-In is launching a limited-time value menu to commemorate the nation's 250th birthday this summer, according to a press release.

The "America $2.50 Menu" will be available from June 22 through July 12 via the Sonic App and at participating locations nationwide. The promotional menu features a lineup of traditional items priced at $2.50 each.

Featured items include the Red, White & Blue Slush Float, which contains blue raspberry flavor, vanilla soft serve and real strawberries. The menu also includes the Jr Double Cheeseburger, the All-American Hot Dog and medium onion rings.

Drink purchases throughout the summer will also come in limited-edition cups that feature designs inspired by U.S. landmarks.

As part of the anniversary, the Sonic Foundation will donate $250,000 through the nonprofit organization DonorsChoose in July. The funds will support teachers and help finance American history-focused classroom projects.

The donation is funded through the company's Limeades for Learning initiative, which directs a portion of every drink, slush, and shake purchase toward public education. Since 2009, the foundation has donated more than $32 million to local classrooms.
