Sonic's Limeades for Learning sets record

November 13, 2011

Sonic Drive-In customers voted in record numbers for this year's Limeades for Learning initiative, resulting in 1,471 projects funded and $714,230 in donations.

This year's campaign, Sonic's third in partnership with DonorsChoose.org, also featured 4.4 million total votes. Sonic's goal was 1.5 million votes.

Because the goal was achieved, an additional $100,000 was donated to fund teachers' projects, and Sonic rewarded every voter with a free medium Cherry Limeade.

"The teachers in our communities do amazing work every day with young people and we are delighted to support their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit in bringing new learning opportunities to their students. The free Cherry Limeade for voters is the cherry on top to another tremendously successful edition of Limeades for Learning," said Danielle Vona, Sonic's chief marketing officer. "Our customers and the voting public showed they had all the incentive needed to continue voting in record numbers well past the 1.5 million vote goal."
