Subway Canada introduces new Commit to Fit ambassador

June 20, 2012

Subway Restaurants has announced that Courtney Belanger is the new Commit to Fit Ambassador in Canada. She will join longtime U.S. ambassador Jared Fogle in a cross-Canada tour unveiling the healthy living initiative from Subway Canada called "The Subway Commit to Fit Pledge."

"At Subway Restaurants, it's our mission to fuel every Canadian's active, healthy lifestyle." said Kathleen Bell, co-director of Marketing for Subway Canada. "The Commit to Fit pledge is our way of encouraging Canadians to kick-start that lifestyle. We're asking 100,000 Canadians to simply put their hands up and say that they're ready to make a change."

Consumers can take the pledge on the Subway Canada Facebook page.

For Courtney Belanger of Milton, Ontario, that commitment began 21 months and 120 pounds ago.

"Five words changed my life," Belanger said. "When my daughter asked: 'Can we go swimming tonight?', and I was too ashamed to go out in a bathing suit. I knew something had to change. That was the moment I changed the way we lived - including swapping Friday Pizza Nights for Friday Subway nights."

Once Canadians take the Commit to Fit Pledge, they also can record individual Acts of Fitness that celebrate daily accomplishments in the categories of wellness, fitness and nutrition. Just for taking the Pledge, Canadians are eligible to win a $10,000 cash prize and $500 in Subway Gift Cards.

The Commit to Fit Pledge will be live until Sept. 30, 2012.

Belanger will be joined on her Commit to Fit mission in Quebec by her French Canada equivalent, Subway Commit to Fit Ambassador Carl Savard, who will also join Fogle for appearances in the Quebec market.
