McDonald's test of an NFC-enabled interactive dining table at a restaurant in Singapore has inspired a broader rollout throughout Asia.
According to CNET Asia, the "Happy Table" will eventually be available throughout the region, though no solid dates have been set.
Daniel Lee, director of digital at McDonald's, told a Singapore conference audience this week that the broader deployment will feature "Kinect-style" options that will be tied into themes such as Despicable Me and Smurfs 2.
McDonald's Singapore began testing the interactive dining tables this summer. They feature games that are NFC-enabled through stickers underneath the tables. Guests who want to play download a McParty Run app, then hold their smartphone over the table to faciliate the activity.
The initiative was created in partnership with McDonald's global ad agency DDB.
