Taco Bell has been sued by an Oklahoma woman after she became ill in a recent Salmonella outbreak. Taco Bell was named as the link in a recent outbreak that affected consumers in 10 states, including Oklahoma.
According to Food Safety News, the 22-year-old plaintiff said she experienced painful abdominal cramps and bloody diarrhea a few days after eating at a Taco Bell.
She was treated at an emergency clinic and had to seek follow up medical attention as her condition worsened. Her symptoms carried on for about two weeks, and she missed several days of work.
Taco Bell thinks outside the box for new campaign
Taco Bell's ads will no longer feature the tagline "Think outside the bun." Instead, the chain will adopt the new slogan "Live mas." Mas is Spanish for "more."
According to Ad Age, the shift is an attempt by the company to reverse recent sales declines and the message "underscores the brand's commitment to value, quality, relevance and an exceptional experience."
Taco Bell's objective is to move away from the idea of "food as fuel" toward "food as experience."
New TV spots featuring the campaign will roll out beginning Feb. 25, during TNT's NBA All-Star Saturday Night.
The campaign was created by Taco Bell's agency, Interpublic's DraftFCB.
Taco Bell named Brian Niccol as its new chief marketing officer in October.
