Wendy's launches Sonic the Hedgehog kids' meals with trading cards

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, Wendy's is offering a collectible Kids' Meal experience this summer featuring one of seven character card cases, each containing a unique set of trading cards.

Available now through early September at participating U.S. restaurants, the Wendy's app and Wendys.com, the promotion allows fans to collect 35 trading cards in all. The seven character sets feature heroes like Sonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose and Miles "Tails" Prower, alongside Silver the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna, Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat.

The partnership comes to the U.S. after launching in the U.K. earlier this year.

"From Sonic the Hedgehog to Amy Rose, every character card tells a story and holds an exciting new memory ready to be made with a Wendy's Kids' Meal," the company said in a statement.

Customers who order a Kids' Meal during the eligible time frame will receive one case and five trading cards. The meal includes a kids' drink, a choice of Jr. Hot and Crispy Fries or apple bites, and a choice of two-piece chicken tenders, four-piece chicken nuggets, a hamburger or a cheeseburger.

The collectibles are available while supplies last, and character offerings may vary by location.

Wendy's has more than 7,000 restaurants.
