Wendy's, Subway pitch for a place in the 'Big Dance'

March 18, 2019

QSR brands know very well where a huge share of their customers will be for the immediate future. That's right, in front of a screen firmly fixed on all the action of "the Big Dance" a.k.a. the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament taking place now through April 8. QSRs Subway and Wendy's intend to be right there with them and they're using a little promotional magic to get there in the weeks ahead.

At Subway, for instance, the brand is the premiere presenter of Yahoo Spots Best Bracket Millionaire Tournament that started March 11 and will award $1 million dollars to the best bracket at the conclusion of the tournament. Customers can enter with the Yahoo Fantasy Sports app sometime before March 21 using three methods:

  • An existing bracket to submit a newly created bracket.
  • Or create and enter an entirely new bracket.
  • Or use the Subway Selects option to autofill your bracket.

Meanwhile, burger brand, Wendy's, has partnered with DoorDash and the goal here is all about earning a free $5 Biggie Bag. That can be accomplished by adding the bag to customers' carts online with the "FREEBIGGIEBAG" code to earn the customer one free bag delivered by DoorDash. Likewise, customers can also get free delivery by placing a $10 minimum order to get free delivery.

Biggie bags contain Wendy's the LTO item, the Bacon Double Stack, four-piece chicken nuggets, as well as small fries and drink. The LTO runs through March 24, or while supplies last.
