Riding the momentum of sudden viral success, and 16 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth, Long John Silver's is anchoring its fall menu strategy in elevated comfort and a dose of nostalgia.
Launching August 24, the brand's fall lineup introduces freshly prepared, hand-battered fried pickles and a proprietary Old Bay Ranch dipping sauce aimed at a condiment-loving younger demographic. Also included are a fish and chicken basket for $6, a fish and chicken platter with fried pickles for $14.15, a Ranch Lover's Meal for $9.99, and the return of Pumpkin Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory.
"Pickles are having a moment, but we weren't interested in making just another fried pickle," Meredith Smith, director of brand marketing at Long John Silver's, said in a press release. "The pickles are hand-dipped in Long John Silver's proprietary batter and fried, and the new Old Bay dipping sauce pairs the spice of Old Bay seasoning with the creaminess of ranch."
"It's the perfect marriage of flavors, Old Bay and seafood. Most people love ranch," Smith said during a fall menu tasting attended by QSRweb.com.

Laura Ellis, chief marketing officer, said during the tasting that hand-breading the pickles is a "bit of a laborious product, but it gets you that freshly made pickle experience that you can get at a sit-down restaurant that you really don't usually get in quick service."
Ranch with Old Bay is just one of several sauces released by the seafood brand.
Long John Silver's summer menu included seasonal coconut shrimp and a citrus honey mustard dipping sauce, and $6 basket options — including fish and shrimp, or chicken and shrimp — created to align with value menus from other QSRs.
A Summer Cream Soda, which guests could add to their favorite fountain drink, and Orange Creamsicle Cheesecake rounded out the summer menu. The Cream Soda flavoring will continue throughout the fall menu window.
In a press release about the summer menu, Smith said $6 baskets will be available all year.
The brand also launched waffle fries about a year and a half ago as a differentiator.
But these new introductions aren't taking away from the fact that Long John Silver's is, at its heart, a seafood restaurant first.
"I would say the basis of our strategy today is our core," Ellis said. "Our core is incredibly delicious. That's what people know and love about us. If anything, we're just introducing a new generation to it. And also, while we always love our core, for all of 2026 we've kind of had a two-part strategy which is we want to have our $6 baskets available all year. We know that the macro environment is incredibly hard for our consumer. And so, we think it's really important that not only can you have a full meal for $6, but it's a seafood meal … that's wild caught Alaskan pollock for $6. That's an incredible value that we're providing."
Smith said the partnership with The Cheesecake Factory is a "great way for our customers to get that little slice of heaven." Long John Silver's has had pumpkin cheesecake before and it sold well. It also offers classic and chocolate cheesecake slices.
Four Oaks Partners, led by longtime franchisee Bob Jenkins, acquired Long John Silver's in November 2022 for an undisclosed amount. The seafood brand has reported 16 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth under the company and has reported systemwide sales increases from $400 million in 2022 at the time of the sale to nearly $430 million.
Though the brand once had as many as 1,300 restaurants nationwide, the company downsized around 2011-2012 and now has just under 500.
More than 115 units have been remodeled since Four Oaks Partners took over, with an estimated 100 more remodels or new restaurants planned over the next two years, Ellis said. She added that a Long John Silver's restaurant in Amarillo, Texas, just turned a year old and generated more than $5 million.
