Jersey Mike's has launched a new smartphone app for iPhone that includes digital ordering and loyalty program management. An Android app will also be available shortly.
The app lets customers order and pay online, manage Shore Points rewards, post to Twitter and Facebook feeds, find the nearest Jersey Mike's location (with directions), and access nutritional information.
The company said this is one of the first apps include both digital ordering and loyalty program management.
"Jersey Mike's is determined to be out in front when it comes to technology despite being a nearly 60-year-old company," said Scott Scherer, chief information officer, Jersey Mike's. "Anything our Jersey Mike's fans want to do related to Jersey Mike's — from find a store to check their points — they can do through this convenient and easy-to-use app."
Jersey Mike's has also introduced new customer facing terminals to allow customers to pay for their order by swiping their credit card themselves at the register. The custom-designed terminals, with a bar code scanner incorporated into the stand, are also the focal point of the Jersey Mike's Shore Points Rewards program, where the company's more than 1.5 million members can earn or redeem points. Eventually customers will be able to pay at the counter by scanning a barcode.
"Technology is changing at an extraordinary rate and we built our own customer terminals so that we can accommodate existing and upcoming innovations whether barcodes, chip-and-PIN or EMV credit cards, NFC technology, UPC codes, data entry, QR codes, or whatever comes next," Scherer said. "Fortunately, the custom terminals are extremely easy for our franchisees to install."
Jersey Mike's new mobile app can be downloaded for free at the Apple store.
