Carl's Jr. is changing how it makes burgers, launching a systemwide "Burger Revolution" that shifts its more than 1,000 U.S. restaurants to a cooked-to-order standard, the company announced in a news release.

The initiative debuts alongside the Angus Maximus, a $5.99 limited-time burger featuring two charbroiled 100% Angus beef patties, American cheese, onions, pickles and special sauce on a toasted brioche bun. The LTO runs through Oct. 27 and is designed to introduce customers to the new preparation method, in which burgers are cooked after an order is placed rather than held in advance.

"The Burger Revolution and our shift to a cooked-to-order process represents our commitment to raising the standard across the entire Carl's Jr. experience," Iwona Alter, brand president for Carl's Jr., said in the release. "The Angus Maximus is the perfect burger to lead that charge," bringing together charbroiled Angus beef, bold flavor, quality and value.

New My Rewards members can receive a free Angus Maximus with any purchase at sign-up.
